Twenty years ago this year. The christening of Lady Louise Mountbatten Windsor. Her mum Sophie is wearing a cream silk organza jacket with self lily feature by yours truly. This design proved useful for formalising a plain dress or a strapless gown: worked equally well with black or navy.

Surprise visitors at the end of the garden this afternoon: The Royal Swan Uppers who look out for the health of the King’s mute swans. From Sunbury Lock to Abingdon Bridge the swans and cygnets are weighed, measured and checked. Some angry swans were very relieved to swim away after being tied up on the bank and tagged.

Tribute to Camila Batmanghelidjh - add milk of human kindness and stir!

Saw this garish knitted tea cosy in an Oxford tea shop in 2016 when Camila was having her annus horribilis foreveris and I had hoped to cheer her up with my customised version. Then I thought better of it.

I gave Camila’s Kids Company charity lots of haberdashery and shop accoutrements: dummies, hats, gloves etc when I closed my West End shop and she told told me that her teenagers had loved the subsequent dressing up. I hadn’t realised how impoverished some of the children were and I find the image of the girls wearing @edwinaibbotson hats on the streets of Southwark just adorable.

Her method of love bombing desperate teenagers was ultimately unsustainable but when I heard of her granting some kids the chance to have a pair of £200 trainers because that’s all they dreamed of, I got it.

RIP Camila, who was born and died on the first day of January.

About 20 years ago I bought up all the Steve Austin merchandise on eBay that I couldn’t possibly afford as a child until my spare room looked like a warehouse. It’s a great way to heal your inner child.

This enables you and a guest to see the new exhibitions, including #Diva at once (and over and over again should you wish to). Amazing to see some vintage #BobMackie for #Cher and #BetteMidler . #IreneSharaff for #BarbraStreisand and #ElizabethTaylor et al including costumes for #Callas and #BetteDavis.

RIP William Friedkin. Ellen Burstyn’s preposterously OTT couture gown for her cocktails-at-home party made such an impression on me when I finally saw The Exorcist that I made this relaxed version of the blouse (1999). I felt the sand gold jersey created a softer look more reminiscent of #Biba. The costume designer on The Exorcist was #JosephFretwelliii . Olivia Inge wears my top in How To Spend It magazine styling @marcellastylist .
